Th Lmbrdy
I went to the Como region for a wedding and decided to photograph the place. The initial idea was to photograph all the big lakes, but once I saw the scale of them I changed the plan and focused on the Como surroundings and other cities around Lombardy, like Varese and Bergamo.
Based in Lecco, my aim was to capture the summer in that region, rather than settling for the obvious. It would be almost impossible to photograph the whole of Lombardy, so the project's name is missing letters too.
Os Açores • Vol 1
A love connection took me to the Azores. I didn't know much about the islands and went there just to get to know this person a bit better. She showed me around São Miguel, and as she's a surfer we went to different beaches so she could surf while I explored the place and took some shots.
As a volcanic island, the Azores look a little like Iceland, with its black sand and waterfalls. Volume I marks my first visit.
A Fábrica
My father has worked in a factory in São Paulo for over forty years, and one day I had the idea to photograph the place. He agreed and gave me permission to explore the facilities.
The factory produces components for vintage and new vehicles.
The celeste walls, the smell of plastic and metal in the air, and the rhythm of the machines create a distinctive atmosphere.
It was a pleasure to explore the space, see the machines in action, and talk with the workers.
This project began with a simple idea: to photograph the Northern Lights. I went to Tromsø because it's one of the best places to see them. Once there, the weather changed everything. It snowed for more than a week, and the sky stayed completely white, making it almost impossible to see or photograph the aurora.
Knowing this was a possibility, I had a second plan: to photograph the city of Tromsø and its surroundings. With patience and long drives, the project took a different direction. Snowy fjords and pinkish skies became the main subject, shaping the visual identity of the work.
One night, the sky cleared, and I photographed the Northern Lights after all.
Napoli
My father's family is from Caserta, and this journey was a way to reconnect with the place and better understand where part of me came from. My father was turning seventy, and I thought this could be a nice present. Naples, with its ancient culture and strong identity, became the centre of the project, alongside Caserta and the island of Procida.
I photographed these places with the intention of capturing both their beauty and their everyday life, moving between landscapes and cityscapes.
Wien
I work in a design studio with offices in London and Vienna, and every year the whole team travels to Vienna for the Christmas party. For a long time, I only came for the party and never stayed long enough to see the city. One year, I decided to stay there after the company's gathering to get to know the city a bit better and photograph it with film cameras.
The focus was on the architecture, public transport, amusement parks, and the urban landscape. I was blessed one morning with a Viennese fog, giving a soft gradient to some of the best images of the whole project.
Ísland
One day, I decided to go to Iceland to take some pictures, and naturally it became my first photography project. I went there with one digital camera and a fixed 28mm lens. I was based in Reykjavík, travelling most days, and sometimes sleeping in a car as travelling back to the city would be impossible. It was simple and honest, and I learned a lot about being on the road as a photographer, dealing with empty batteries and solitude. My honest take is that it's easy to photograph Iceland. It's all handed to you: the landscapes, the light, the colours; it's all too perfect, and very exotic.
The big challenge was to try to see beyond that and make photographs that reach past the breathtaking landscapes, which is something very hard to do.
I would love to go back one day with different cameras, a motorhome, and a full week to explore the volcanoes, different cities, and extend this project even further.
